The Weakley County School System offers a wide variety of services to students with disabilities from age three through twenty-one. In accordance with state and federal laws, each student in special education is provided a free, appropriate, public education in the least restrictive environment.
> Special education services available in ALL schools
> 26 special education resource teachers for students with mild to moderate disabilities
> 6 teachers for more comprehensive services to students with moderate to severe disabilities
> Comprehensive services located in two age-appropriate schools
> Transportation provided by 7 wheelchair equipped buses
> 3 speech pathologists to assist with articulation, language development, and augmentative communication
> Support network of 40 educational assistants
> Contractual arrangements with physical, occupational, and behavioral therapists
> County-wide services include:
* school psychologist
* social worker
* homebound teacher
* director
* 2 clerical workers
* consulting teacher
The MISSION of the special education division of the Weakley County Schools is to enforce the belief that “all children can learn.” Our purpose is to provide each student with a disability in our school system with an individualized education program that is designed to provide appropriate educational/developmental services.
