This is the image for the news article titled Gleason School Library Reading-Is-Fun-A-Thon Nets Big ResultsDuring the month of January, elementary students at Gleason School had the opportunity to participate in Gleason School Library’s “Reading-Is-Fun-a-thon.” Their efforts have raised more than $2,200.

Students searched for sponsors who would give money to the Library based on how many minutes the student read or on how many pages were read by the student. Many sponsors made additional donations above and beyond the reading time/pages read by students.

33 elementary students chose to participate in the fundraiser. Together, those 33 students raised $2279.27 for the Gleason School Library.

The top fundraisers were: 4th Place—fourth grader Kaylee Wallace, 3rd Place—first grader Parker Vaughn. There was a tie for 2nd Place between first grader, Gus Lindsey, and second grader, Ivy Grace Snider, who both raised exactly $200 each for the Library.

The top fundraiser was first grader, Blair Chandler, who brought in $225. As top fundraiser, Blair won a $25 cash prize and a case of Silly String to share with her classmates.

On the next pretty day, Blair and her classmates, along with the other top 4 fundraisers--2nd Place (Gus Lindsey and Ivy Grace Snider), 3rd Place (Parker Vaughn), and 4th Place (Kaylee Wallace)--will have the opportunity to chase the school librarian, Amy Lawrence, outside and spray her with the Silly String. (She says will use the time between now and then to practice her running.)
