This is the image for the news article titled ID Badges Are ComingKeeping up with school lunch plans will get a little easier on Tuesday, September 17, when all Weakley County Schools will employ a new system using identification badges.

Badges and lanyards will be issued by each school and to every student prior to the official switch on Tuesday.

Previously, students needed to key in a code that then brought up a screen for cafeteria workers alerting them to allergies and the account balance. Now, with a swipe of the id badge, the same information will be provided but in less time and with fewer incidents of forgotten codes.

“We believe this will be a more efficient and effective system,” said Trista Snider, Supervisor of School Nutrition, in her announcement to school administrators.

According to director Randy Frazier, Weakley County Schools could utilize the badges for a number of purposes in the future including on buses and for attendance.

Each school’s administration will determine the most effective means of distributing the badges.
