May was supposed to be the month when middle and high school choirs from Dresden, Gleason and Greenfield took the stage and, after showing off their school's talents, were to belt out "Take Me Home Country Roads" in a rousing sing-a-long. But the COVID-19 closure cancelled that concert. However, thanks to the efforts of Dresden Choir Director Jacob Abbott and the support of Weakley Arts Can and producer Joseph Sam the final sing-a-long can still happen.

The plan is to produce a virtual choir performance of the familiar celebration of rural life made famous by John Denver. All Weakley Countians are encouraged to participate. Here are the instructions on how that can be done:

1. Listen to the verbal instructions on the video of Jacob Abbott below.

2. Click here to go to the Google Drive set up for this project.

3. Listen to Track A for the melody and Track B for the harmony. Choose which track you will use. Click here to download lyrics.

4. You have two options for recording your performance.
    a) You can use two devices. One can be for listening to the track using headphones and the other for recording a video of you singing.
     b) You can record yourself singing using the video option on your phone. Do not do record in selfie-mode.

5. Upload your recording in the Participant Folder on the Google Drive.

Deadline is midnight May 15. The performance will go "live" on May 22 on the Weakley County Schools website and social media.

If you have questions, please text or call Jacob Abbott at 731-414-3742.
