This is the image for the news article titled Choice Boards Reward ReadingSummer break can result in an academic summer slump. In an effort to keep students engaged during the extended break, reading coach April Fishel created Reading Choice Boards. Each activity can be completed based on a book of the student’s choosing. Each age band has a specific number of activities they must finish to earn the reward of their school's spirit wear.

For each activity the student chooses and finishes from the board, parents (or in the case of Summer Scholars, a teacher there) must sign the box and attach any written work to the board.

Students should work on the grade level completed during the 2021-2022 school year. Kindergarten students must complete any 10 activities. First and Second Graders must complete any 14 activities. Third through Fifth Grade students must complete any 18 activities. Middle School Students must complete all 9 activities listed on their choice board.

All students who return their completed choice board (with work attached) on registration day will receive a spirit wear t-shirt supporting their school. These t-shirts will be made after school starts, and will be distributed as quickly as possible.
