Thirty Westview High School students earned industry certifications this academic year. Through the intensive certification program, these students have shown mastery of the knowledge needed for entrance into their respective career field of interest in various Career and Technical Education (CTE) subject areas.

“We work to provide opportunities for our students that can benefit them post-graduation. The iCEV Industry Certifications provide our CTE students this leg up whether they are pursuing post-secondary education or immediately entering the workforce,” said Westview Principal Jeromy Davidson.

Developed and issued by industry-leading companies and organizations such as Elanco and Southwest Airlines, and tested for on the iCEV platform, the certifications enhance student resumes and help them stand out to prospective colleges and employers. The certifications reflect the needs of real-world career expectations, boost employability and allow employers to identify and connect with qualified applicants. To earn the certification, each student passed a rigorous exam based on weighted industry-valued and industry-accepted standards.

“It has been exciting offering Industry Certifications to all of my Business students this year,” noted Kimberly Elliott, business instructor at Westview. “As a CTE concentrator they are not always recognized for graduating with anything beyond the required coursework. These allow my students who meet all the requirements of Graduating with Distinction to now be recognized for that hard work.”

Students earning the recognition include:

Personal Financial Literacy -- Josef Abdulla, Carter Coleman, Riley Hazlewood, Tara Steffen-Brewer and Mason VanCleave.

Southwest Professional Communications -- Austin Alverado-Webb, Joseph Anderson, Houston Baker, Michael Butler, Nathan Cross, Grayson Gilliam, Ethan Hayden, Christian Ingram, Preston Lee, Bryce McGuffin, Katelee Roberts, Harrison Simpson, Chase Winschel, Robin Wynne, Brooklyn Young, Rey Aguilar, Aryan Chauhan, Michael Collier, Sam Daniels, Jacob Foltz, Dylan Hutson, Zach Parrott, Roree Roberts, Joseph Roupe, DeVonte Smith, and Terron Smith.

“Our goal in offering certification testing on the iCEV platform was to provide students with validation of the specialized skills they have developed and knowledge base they’ve built,” said Dusty Moore, President, iCEV. “The certifications are meant to have an immediate positive impact on students as they plan for their future after high school, whether that is attending college or joining the workforce. On behalf of CEV Multimedia and our industry partners, we congratulate all students at Westview High School for this tremendous accomplishment and wish them the best as they pursue their career goals.”
